I used the kernel density tool to create the three maps above. I tried using just the points in a heat map and a weighted field but I could not decided which field would have been the best option. I think it I had combined another dataset with the tornadoes maybe I would have had better luck. The maps above should be showing where tornadoes in each 20 year span clustered within the US. Originally I was going to do 30 year intervals, until I realized I did not math right, and just adding in that additional 10 years to the first set changed the heat map drastically. I don't know if the data is not as complete in the later years or in climate change truly can be seen in these tornadoes.
I also played with a tool on the main analysis tool called "Optimized Hot Spot Analysis" and I am not sure I used it correctly. See below for one heck of a mistake, or a new pokeball design.
